Tilt panels have been erected on site in Berrinba for the new 13,700m2 LOGOS development for major ready meals supplier Youfoodz.
Wiley were appointed to the project in late 2020, working in partnership with LOGOS to deliver the brand-new multi-purpose space for Youfoodz. The new facility brings together Youfoodz’ existing operations under the one roof, with administration, marketing and production all occupying the space.

Industrial Manager Chris Hambling says that concrete tilt panels were specifically included in the Youfoodz facility due to their quick construction, structural ability, and fire resistance.
“During the design process, we considered a number of requirements presented to us by Youfoodz,” explains Chris. “Bringing our design and construction experience to the table, we decided on a hybrid approach to the construction methodology which incorporated the benefits of both concrete tilt panels and traditional structural steel.”
“There was a real buzz on site with 58 panels stood in two days, and multiple loads of structural steel arriving. Seeing the building take shape is the part I love about construction. It’s a real testament to the project team’s efforts to date and our commitment to deliver.”
“Working with our valued local and reputable consultants and suppliers gives us the confidence that we can recommend these solutions to our clients and be able to deliver on it.”
These suppliers included Kraftur (concrete footings), Tru-Flow Services (hydraulics), Ryan Civil (civil works) and Boulder Wall Constructions (retaining), who worked with Wiley for months on the preparation work required.
The tilt panels themselves were supplied by JG Concrete Constructions, with some measuring up to 11m high and weighing up to 36 tonnes. They were lifted into place over two days using a 110 tonne crawler crane, thanks to Borger Crane Hire. Click through our gallery below to see the team in action.
Project Manager Melanie Patterson says that watching the panels being installed on site was an exciting milestone to meet.
“We’ve had some great progress on site since we commenced works in October 2021, and despite significant inclement weather, the project remains on track,” says Melanie.
“In addition to the tilt panels, we have completed all civil works and our perimeter boulder retaining wall. Our hydraulics are underway, and we anticipate having up to 100 staff on site.”
“Over the next four to six weeks, the Youfoodz facility will really start to come to life.”
The next major stage involves structural steel and high-level pipework and services, which is due to commence in February. Slabs are due to commence in late April.
This project is due to be completed by September 2022.
